Grape (local almost extinct grape variety) Krakhuna

Year 2017

Origin West Georgia, Mukhuri, Mingrelia

Vineyard West Georgia, Winery Obene

Harvest Details The grape is picked manually

Production method Georgian Kakhetic Qvevri technique In this traditional technique, the wine ferments and ages in a large earthenware jug. The Krakhuna is pressed without grape sprigs and ferments for 8-9 days in contact with one third of the grape seeds. After 8-9 days, the wine is transferred to other qvevris and continues to age without grape seeds. After a month and a half, the wine is again transferred to other qvevris for filtering, where the wine is stored for another 6 months.
Characteristic of the Obene vineyard is that the Qvevris are buried in the ground outside. Next to the Qvevri is a tree that provides shade.

Taste The smell of the Krahuna is still closed: terroir, earthy, herbs, floor wax. Evolves into pear, blossom, citrus ...

Strong on the palate, balanced with beautiful acidity and subtle bitterness. A complex and deep taste.

Serve you drink this wine with white meat, lobster and fried fish, at a temperature of 10 ° C.

Alcohol 13.5% vol

The Wine whisperer also describes the Krakhuna.
